on computers and making people jealous

this has been said a millon times (ok, maybe just a thousand, but it is the same). as many times as you might find grains of sand in your shoe after a short walk in the beach. but this is my grain of sand.

people don’t want to spend hours browsing pages. people don’t want to spend hours uploading files, filling in kilometrical forms, or even browsing a millon images. people don’t want to code their way into an application. people don’t want to spend time in their computers.

i might repeat it (so i feel it is two grains of sand!):

people don’t want to spend hours browsing pages. people don’t want to spend hours uploading files, filling in kilometrical forms, or even browsing a millon images. people don’t want to code their way into an application. people don’t want to spend time in their computers.

they want to find information. they want to have their photos on their last trip to venezuela shared with family and friends. they want their address book to be as ubiquitous as they are. they want to find that amazing shot of keira knightley. they want to use the application ‘cause they want some work done to get their wages and spend their holidays in venezuela to take pictures of themselves in those gorgeous beaches and then share them with family and friends to make them profoundly jealous!

it might not be exactly like that, but i bet you: people don’t want to spend time on their computers. they want to do things* (sure, mostly to make other people jealous, but that’s another story).

  • or get things done, if you’re into that one
